Oh being a mom. I love being a mom, but at the same time there is so much responsibility. And I’m not just talking about feeding them, washing their clothes, packing lunches for school…
I’m taking about instilling in them how they are wonderfully made. How beautiful they are no matter what the other girls say at school. I hate that for some reason, the kids at school…the mean girls at school…tell my beautiful awesome sauce girls are not smart, that they are ugly, they tease them and laugh at them. Do you know how hard it is to hold a mama bear back… I have wanted to march in to that school and put my finger in these girls faces and tell them that it is NOT cool to be a mean girl. To put other people down to make them selves feel better. Then I would give them a hug…because that is really what these mean girls are in need of.
I pray for my girls every day. Trying to find the correct way to instill to these growing little women that they are made perfectly. That even if mean girls say hurtful things, they are the most precious thing to me, one of the things I’m most proud of, that seeing them smile makes my day, hearing them laugh gives joy to my heart. They need to know…all girls need to know…they are loved, needed, cherished and beautiful.
This is what I have printed for my girls, to hang in their rooms. To read every day. To say to themselves every day so that it will become their inner dialog. And when other people tell them differently, they will know in their hearts that it’s not true.
